About Dylan White
Creating a therapeutic space rooted in connection, reflection, honesty, and healing
Welcome!
My name is Dylan White, MSW, RSW, and I am offering a culturally safe and compassionate psychotherapy service for youth and adults. My approach in therapy is collaborative, respectful, and rooted in the belief that healing is always possible.
Through Nation-to-Nation Counselling, it is my goal to create a space where you feel encouraged to explore your lived experiences, reconnect with the strength within you, and move toward healing in a way that feels safe and supportive to you.
Why I chose the name Nation to Nation Counselling
Indigenous Peoples and the Crown created treaties intended to allow nations to coexist peacefully, sharing land and natural resources. Many of these treaties were not honoured, and systems of social, political, economic, and cultural control were created that caused — and continue to cause — generational harm physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
As a social worker and therapist, I am mindful that my profession is connected to systems that have also caused harm to Indigenous Peoples. This is personal to me. It is connected to my family story, to my grandmother’s experience, and to the intergenerational realities many Indigenous families continue to carry.
I am privileged to have parents who have committed their lives to generational healing. I carry that forward with deep respect, and I hope to use my work as a therapist to contribute to healing — one relationship at a time.
What This Means in Therapy
As you enter this therapeutic relationship, my hope is that you feel able to show up honestly and vulnerably — knowing that I will meet you with the same openness, care, and respect.
I believe therapy should feel collaborative. Like one nation to another, we may walk side by side with different lived experiences, values, spirituality, and cultural beliefs. My hope is that those differences are honoured, and that you feel safe to be fully yourself in the work we do together.
You are the expert in your own life. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you with care, curiosity, and compassion.
Experience & Background
Over the last decade, I have worked in roles that have allowed me to support people, families, and communities in a variety of ways. My background includes work as:
an Indigenous Health Program Coordinator
a Police Officer within an Indigenous community
a Health Equity Advocate within the healthcare system
and most recently, a Mental Health Counsellor
These experiences continue to shape the way I show up in this work — with humility, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s story.
